Negative Space Drawing

Negative space - the spaces around an object, the spaces where an object is not.

For this project, each table received a vase with leaves in it (like the one below)

Students were to do a drawing of the NEGATIVE SPACES and then fill in those negative space with either pencil or charcoal.

Here are some examples of negative space drawings that are similar to our assignment:

Artsonia

As we finish projects in this class, we will be photographing them and uploading them to the following website:

Artsonia

I will be emailing your parents with a link so they can create an account and view your work throughout the semester!

(Note: ALL students will be uploading photos of their projects on Artsonia.  This helps me document students' finished projects so that I can grade them in one place.  However, if your parent/guardian indicated on their permission form that they did NOT want their student's artwork published online, then Mrs. Sabin will be the only person who is able to view their artwork - it will not be made public.)
